Project Description
Asia Pacific Cities Summit (APCS) took place in September 2013 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Intercon Convention Management Consultancy, a subsidiary of Interplan Group’s (formerly Uniplan Taiwan) was selected to produce and assist the conference by the Kaohsiung City Government. It achieved great success across the public and private sectors, with mayors, business leaders and young professionals conducting broad and in-depth discussions and sharing experiences of urban development. APCS opened up many international opportunities for Taiwan. The success of the event became a milestone for Kaohsiung, which demonstrated to have outstanding merits to act as the platform for Taiwan in the Asia-Pacific region. The theme of the event, “Reshaping the Urbanomics of Cities – City Challenges, City Solutions,” attracted 1,800 participants from over 132 cities in the region. The event also generated plentiful business opportunities, with 93 business workshops held and trade deals totaling NT$3.32 billion (US$ 110 million) signed. Launched in 1996 in Brisbane, the biennial APCS is recognized as one of the premier forums for fast-tracking international city networks and new business relationships for Asia-Pacific cities. It serves as a leading communication platform for regional issues and as a generator of market cooperation between local government and other business related sectors.
